ANRAKU DOMINATES SEMIFINAL, ONDRA MISSES OUT IN HIS FINAL BOULDERING APPEARANCE

In a rain-soaked semifinal, this season’s standout performer Sorato Anraku of Japan lived up to expectations. He advanced to the final alongside two-time Prague winner Dohyun Lee of South Korea. Meanwhile, local hero Adam Ondra did not make it into the top eight in what was his final career appearance in the bouldering discipline.

Despite the steady rain over Letná, spectators came out in large numbers, donning raincoats and eager to see the star-studded semifinal lineup headlined by the legendary Ondra.

Routesetters made life difficult for the climbers, and topping the problems proved a real challenge. Anraku handled the boulders best – topping three, adding a zone on the last one, and narrowly beating French climber Mejdi Schalck by almost 15 points. Lee finished fourth, behind another Japanese climber Sohta Amagasa.

When Adam Ondra stepped onto the stage, the weather was quickly forgotten. The crowd pushed their hometown favorite forward with full force. After earning two zones, he topped the third problem and suddenly found himself in contention for a final spot. However, he couldn’t solve the last boulder, and his "Last Boulder Dance” ended in the semifinal with a 15th place finish.

"I’m fairly satisfied with my performance. Reaching the final in my last competition would have been an incredible moment, of course, but I hope the fans still enjoyed the show,” Ondra said after the round.

The difficulty of the semifinals was underlined by the early exit of Olympic champion Toby Roberts, who also failed to advance.

The men's final is scheduled for 18:30.
