"In terms of longevity, it's better for me to avoid those moves rather than push my body into extreme positions," explained Ondra, whose shoulders suffer during the dynamic jumps that are now typical of modern bouldering.

Ondra will continue to focus on lead climbing and outdoor rock projects – which is another reason he's stepping away from top-level bouldering.
